Jamaica Fire Brigade · Clarendon Division presents
Simple equipment. Safer homes. Stronger communities.
CAMPAIGN RUNS THROUGH
The Clarendon Division of the Jamaica Fire Brigade is encouraging families, homeowners, motorists and businesses to take practical steps to protect their spaces by acquiring suitable fire-protection equipment, including smoke detectors and fire extinguishers.
Imagine waking up in the middle of the night to the smell of smoke. Imagine a fire starting in your kitchen while your family is at home, or smoke filling your vehicle while you are on the road.
In those moments, would you have the equipment to help protect the people and property that matter most?
Fire safety should not begin when firefighters arrive. It begins with the decisions we make today.
We understand that purchasing safety equipment may not always be easy. That is why this campaign is not only about raising awareness; it is also about taking action.
As part of this initiative, the Clarendon Division will distribute over 60 smoke detectors throughout the campaign to help improve safety in our communities.

A smoke detector can provide an early warning when every second counts. A suitable fire extinguisher, when used safely and correctly on a small, manageable fire, may help prevent it from spreading.
We know that this is only a beginning. There are many homes and spaces that still need protection. That is why our annual Lap-a-thon helps raise funds to extend this effort and provide more equipment to the people who need it.
Look out for the Clarendon Division as we visit communities and engage residents. You can also express your interest in supporting the campaign, helping to acquire fire-protection equipment, or participating in our Lap-a-thon.
Every smoke detector installed, every suitable extinguisher made available, and every family that becomes better prepared is a step in the right direction.
Don’t wait for a fire to remind you of the importance of fire safety.
EQUIP YOUR SPACE. PROTECT YOUR PLACE.
Prepare today. Protect lives tomorrow.
Every step towards fire safety matters.
Key fire-protection equipment

Detect smoke early and give you time to respond.

Choose equipment suited to the fire risk. Use it only on a small, manageable fire when safe to do so.
Follow the manufacturer’s installation guidance, test smoke detectors regularly, and have extinguishers inspected and maintained by a qualified provider.
Homes, families, vehicles and businesses deserve practical protection. Suitable equipment and a safe escape plan work together.
Safety first: If a fire occurs, get everyone to safety and call the fire service. Never attempt to fight a spreading fire or one that puts you at risk.
